Prayer for Government

 

Father, in Jesus name, we give thanks for the government You have ordained. We hold up in prayer before You the men and women who are in positions of authority. We pray and intercede for the president, the representatives, the senators, the judges of our land, the policemen, as well as the governors, and mayors, and for all those who are in authority over us in any way. We pray that the Spirit of the Lord rests upon them, guiding them in wisdom, to make the correct decisions, working in unity to honor Your name.

We believe that skillful, reverent, and God-fearing wisdom rest in the heart of our president. We pray for knowledge to direct and guide him. Discretion watches over him, understanding keeps him and delivers him from the way of evil, and from the path of evil men of the world.

Father, we ask that You compass the president about with men and women who make their hearts and ears attentive to God-fearing council and do that which is righteous in Your sight. We believe You cause them to be men and women of integrity who are obedient and responsible concerning us.

Lord God, we pray that we may lead a quit and peaceable life in all integrity with the quality of being devoutly faithful in honesty. We pray that the upright shall dwell in our government, and men and women are blameless and completely holy in Your sight. Father, we pray that the upright shall remain in these positions of authority always.

Father we pray for a swift action of judgment on the godless that cause strife and division in our countries leadership roles. Father we pray the wicked and godless shall be cut off from our government, never to return, while the treacherous shall be exposed promptly, and rooted out permanently.

Your Word declares that blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.(Ps 33:12) We receive Your blessing. Father God, You are our refuge and stronghold in times of trouble (high cost, poverty so extreme that lacks in the means to provide for oneself, and desperation). Your Word declares that If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.(2Chron 7:14)

So we declare with our mouths that Your people dwell safely in this land of ours, and we prosper abundantly. We are more than conquerors through Christ who strengthens us!(Rm 8:37)

It is written in Your Word that the heart of the king is in the hand of the Lord, and you turn it whichever way You desire. We believe the heart of our leader is in Your hand, and that his decisions are divinely directed of the Lord.

We give thanks unto You that the good news of the gospel is published in our land. The Word of the Lord prevails and grows mightily in the hearts and lives of the people. We give You thanks for the gift of this land, and the leaders You have given to us, in Jesus name.
Christ is Lord over our country!

1 Timothy 2:1-3 (KJV) 1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

 

With issues such as religious liberty, the definition of marriage, and the sanctity of life, Lord we pray for our nations leaders and office holders, that they would exercise their authority with wisdom, fairness, and respect for the values upon which our nation was founded. Amen.
